An SEO developer’s role and job is to get a website as high up in the rankings as possible using different website optimisation techniques. This in turn should generate more traffic. This is generally where the role stops.
As a PPC Manager it is our role to get the ROI possible for a campaign using different Pay per Click optimisation techniques, pausing terms that do not create the desired ROI etc. But our role does not stop there. We can deliver quality, highly targeted traffic to the site, but if it fails to convert then we have not achieve the best ROI possible. So it is also our job to advise and recommend changes to websites to improve usability and conversion rates.
Paid search and usability go hand in hand. Unlike natural search where you are attracting free search, with paid search you are paying for every single visit, one way or another. To correctly analysis a site’s performance you need to install some type of tracking software. Google’s Analytics platform is free and very detailed. It is also just as important to link this correctly to your AdWords account. You can do this by making sure that both your AdWords and Analytics accounts have the same user name and both have admin access. Once this is done, log in to your AdWords account and click on Reports >> Google Analyics >> Link account and select the website in the drop down menu.
This will now successfully tag all your AdWords traffic with the Campaign, Ad Group and Keyword.

How? When the time comes for us to make the evening meal for guests and family, a lot of planning and preparation is required; namely:
Think of what to cook
Go out and spend time searching for quality, authentic ingredients
Use the correct equipment
Be aware of safety tips
Follow directions
Be patient
Enjoy!
Now, what does this have to do with SEO?
The amount of time a person uses to plan and cook food for guests is huge when compared to how long that food is going to take to eat! However for SEO, more effort is required but the ratio of return can be far greater than that of cooking and eating good food!
So, back to SEO.
When planning your SEO strategy, you need to think. Think about how you are going to conduct your SEO.
Are you going to buy links?
Will you link bait?
Will you hire a professional SEO?
Browse the internet and spend time researching SEO and searching for quality, high PR links.
Good ingredients make good food. Good likes produce good rankings.
Use the Correct tools and resources.
Don’t go using out-of-date tools and resources that emphasise the Meta Keyword tag is everything SEO. No, rather use the likes of SEOMoz.
Be aware of safe SEO techniques (white-hat) and the not so safe ones (black-hat).
This will ensure you will rank high and remain high. It’s no good to rank on page 1 for one day and then fall back down to say, page 13.
Follow proven techniques and instructions, ie. hire professionals.
Be Patient. You have heard this before and I will mention it again, be patient. SEO isn’t a one day/week/month process. It can take years.
Sit back, relax and enjoy you top rankings and high traffic!
Once you reach page 1 rankings, then you will generally stay there for a long time (unless of course the industry is competitive or your competitors optimise their sites even better). This is why SEO is an ongoing process.

So, you run a business which works on a global scale and are looking for search engine optimisation to promote your business. You’re probably wondering where you would even start with this. The mistake many businesses make is to buy a .com domain thinking that this will enable them to use the website to market all areas of the world. This is not the case, and so I have included some information on the basics to help you get started with reaching your global goal.
Firstly, you need to understand how search engines work. Search engines want the information they provide to be relevant and useful to the searcher. If that searcher happens to be German-speaking and based in Germany then obviously the most relevant results would be those provided in their native language, from within that country. Therefore, you need to look at having a multitude of websites, each aimed at providing information for each individual country you want to target.
This will involve the following:
Buy the domain names relevant to the countries you want to target e.g. www.companyname.co.uk for the UK, www.companyname.us for the United States, www.companyname.fr for France and www.companyname.cn for China etc. This will help Google to recognise that the site is geo-targeted to a specific country.
Another way to help the search engine to recognise that you are wanting to target users in a specific country is to ensure that the site is held on a server within that country. Therefore you will need to undertake some research into hosting companies.
Include the website content in the native language of the country being targeted.
Lastly, if you have global offices, mention the office address on the relevant website.
By creating sites in this way, search engines such as Google will recognise that each website is targeted at a different location. This will prevent the issues of duplicate content across the sites. For example, the UK and the US are both English speaking countries and will therefore contain the same content. However, because the sites are domains targeted towards different countries, Google will recognise this and will therefore not penalise either of the sites for duplicate content.
